Honeywell Hut
Honeywell Hut is just 50 minutes from popular Motueka, and just over 1 hour from Nelson. The hut is en route from the Abel Tasman National Park, heading towards the West Coast – which makes it the perfect stop-over accommodation for a road trip around the South Island.
Set on Baton Run Farm, a large and dramatic sheep and beef farm, Honeywell Hut has all the style and feel of a backcountry musterer’s hut. The one-room hut has been loving restored over the years with a ton of creative, rustic charm. Recycled timber, rescued from the farm has been used in the detail, including old bridge and cattle yard timber. Locally milled macrocarpa lines the walls – infusing it with a warm and cosy atmosphere. A potbelly stove keeps you snug inside, and an outdoor wood stove in the outdoor kitchen area heats all your water for showers and baths.
Baton Run Farm is perfect for getting active – with mountain biking and walking tracks all on offer. Wear yourself out during the day and take a dip in the river at the end of it all. At night soak away any aches and pains in the steaming hot outdoor bathtub, and spot the constellations in the crystal clear night sky.
